Tree Plantation Drive
The students of the Cathedral and John Connon Senior School planted tree saplings at a garden plot in Chembur East on Sunday, 10th October 2021. Nearly 500 trees were planted by over 250 students, as an initiative to better our environment and increase the green cover in the concrete jungle of Mumbai.
Each student nurtured a sapling at home for 14 days with dedication and then planted it with enthusiasm, in the Chembur plot. We hope to combat global warming by creating a carbon sink to lower temperatures and reduce pollution.
We hope to see the overall benefits of this tree plantation drive, which was done using the Miyawaki method.
We are grateful to the BMC for the allotment of a well chosen plot and Mrs Jignasa Shah for the smooth organisation of this drive.
“To plant trees is to give body and life to one’s dreams of a better world” ~ Russel Page.
We truly hope our efforts will translate our vision of a better tomorrow into reality!
