Round Square Candidacy

The Cathedral and John Connon School is now a part of the Round Square global community, becoming one of only 3 such schools in Maharashtra!

Round Square is an internationally diverse network of 250+ like-minded schools in 50 countries on six continents that connect and collaborate to offer world-class programmes and experiences, developing global competence, character and confidence in our students. The network of Schools are like-minded in their shared understanding of the hardwired link between character education and academic success; and they also believe that in order to equip students for positive, active and engaged global citizenship we must offer them more than academic knowledge and qualifications.

Round Square schools encourage students to take on challenges, go beyond their comfort zone and discover that there is more in each of us than we know. Be it in-person at Round Square Conferences, via Student Exchange, or on RS Service Projects, or online, through Classroom Collaborations, Zoom Postcards, Language Labs, or History Labs, the aim is always to build students’ International Understanding, learn about each other’s countries and cultures, and to discuss and debate some of the most difficult, and sensitive, issues facing our world today.

Acceptance to the RS community is highly selective. The process starts with the filling of a comprehensive form, a detailed interaction with the principal, and an in-person visit to the School where the assessors spend time interacting with students, teachers and heads. The visit also includes a tour of the school and is intended to add weight and independent perspective to the application. The resulting written report accompanies the application form and is then passed to the collective Heads of School within the concerned Round Square Region for review, voting and a decision.

Given the rigour and highly selective nature of the process, an acceptance to the community is recognized across the world as being judicious, differentiating, democratic and robust in terms of the standards adhered to.

As of March 2024, there are only 3 Round Square schools in the state of Maharashtra – the Singapore International School, The Dhirubhai Ambani International School, and now, the Cathedral and John Connon School!
