Deana and Demira Kanungo
We sisters, Deana Kanungo and Demira Kanungo, studying in Grade 4 and Lower 1 respectively of the Cathedral and John Connon School, have taken a small initiative during our summer break. Let us tell you about our exciting journey!
It all started when a friend of ours introduced us to loom bands and we were really fascinated by it. We requested our mother to purchase the loom band making kit for us. After making a few of them, we got a lot of appreciation from our family members. Since we were not travelling anywhere during our summer break, our mother suggested we make more of these loom bands and sell them. She also said that the money we collected could be donated. We absolutely loved the idea and started making loom bands.
Guess what we did? We made 170 of those, all in pretty different colors; some for boys and some for girls, some were just plain, some with charms, some with beads and some with names!!!! We packed them in small plastic pouches and stuck the price tag on it. Our aunt, who keeps having exhibitions, kept them for sale at her stall. To our astonishment, many of these loom bands were sold there. We collected around Rs.20000 and we intend to give this money to an organization affiliated to our school.
We are very happy that our mother gave us this amazing idea and made our break worthwhile. We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported our little cause.
