CERN Visit
20 students along with a teacher visited CERN in Switzerland from October 26 to November 2, 2019.
It was a very profitable trip, where students were able to visit research lab facilities, exhibitions, UN office attend talks by experts such as Dr. Mick Storr and visit the 100 m underground tunnel, the Large Hadron Collider, where particle physics experiments are conducted and the Higgs-Boson was discovered. We also interacted with Dr.Archana Sharma, who was a part of this discovery.
The students visited the UN Sustainable Development Program Space at Geneva University where 38 students from CJCS, Shri Ram Delhi and Welham Girls, Dehradun, were split into 8 groups and given a S D G challenge. They had to brainstorm and come up with a solution and present it. They also experienced the HTC Virtual Reality device.
The students visited Ecolint, Geneva, the first IB school in the world.Students were divided into 2 categories, based on their knowledge of robotics and given challenges to perform.
The students took part in the Discover Geneva Treasure Hunt and explored the city by solving clues.
The students visited the Campus Biotech Innovation Park. There were lectures and demonstration of the latest cutting edge research and technology in the use of AI and robotics in the treatment of epilepsy, stroke patients, visually impaired etc.Then they visited the Wyss Centre and Blue Brain Project.
The students also visited and attended activities at the Math and Science department of the University of Geneva. They also attended a talk on Drug Design and students participated in a hands on activity based on the same.
Students also visited Lake Geneva and walked around the old city area and Bel Air and Chamonix.
