Psychology, Sociology and Interact (4C) Conference
On Saturday, 12thOctober 2019, the Psychology –Sociology department in collaboration with Interact hosted aseminar which aimed to bring together students to participate, plan and execute activities meaningful to all with the focus being educational empowerment.
The aim was to enrich all delegates through discussion of pertinent, prevailing issues and devise a cogent structure of not only the best course of action for moving forward but also a deep understanding of the flaws in the present societal mechanism of addressing criminal activity..
Through various committees such as child abuse and criminal behaviour, human trafficking, criminal law, money laundering, crime at home, substance use and abuse, the participants aimed to understand the causes of crime and how something so dynamic evolves every day and preponderantly impacts not only individuals but society as a whole and to seek coherent solutions that are consistent for the problems we face. This was successfully achieved through riveting discussion, steadfast debate and topical case studies.
The second section of the seminar involved an informative and enriching discussion by Ms Suparna Gupta founder of the NGO Aangan. She addressed the gathering on Human Trafficking and gave us a realistic and experienced view on the situation in our country today.
Schools that attended include, Hiranandani Foundation School(Powai), Bombay Scottish,Mahim, The Bombay International School, St. Gregorios School,Hill Spring as well as students from the NGO, Apnalaya.
The Conference was a student run event, from the chair to participants everyone put in a lot of hardworking which was amply clear through the discussions.
Through an enriching experience, we aimed to allow participants to challenge pre-conceived notions and above all inculcate in each participant a desire to improve the society we live in.
