On April 17, 2017, 19 students from the physics class of 2017-18 visited the Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education: Physics Olympiad Block for a detailed presentation as well as a hands-on experiment trial.

Mr. Shirish Pathare, Scientific Staff at HBCSE, gave a short lecture on importance of experiments in the world of science and how each step of an experiment contributes to the experiment. A short powerpoint presentation on movie physics was shown followed by teaching the mechanics of a software called Tracker (a software designed to track the movements of an object through a video and graph it).

Later the students attempted some of the experiments themselves. The students were divided into two groups.

With Mr. Pathare, the students learned about interesting experiments on optics like diffraction grating using lasers and simple low cost Michelson interferometer.

Appreciation to Mr. Pathare and Ms. Sharbani was given for spending their valuable time in showing their lab. It definitely added to the existing knowledge of the students and which can be definitely used by them in future projects.
