Grant Road Station Painting Activity
A participating student’s perspective. On the fourteenth of October, we, the students of the Cathedral and John Connon School, embarked on a journey that few of us will forget. We traveled to the Grant Road Station to beautify its’ stairs and railings, in an attempt to enhance this iconic station. Marked for us with chalk were numbers ranging from 1-4 as per the design that was chosen. Each of these numbers stood for a particular colour, and it was for us to fill in these designated colours into the space that was otherwise dirty and musty. The vibrant hues contrasted against the dull platforms and gravel. Equipped with sponges, brushes and tins of paint forty five of us managed to paint two flights of stairs in under three hours.
