International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
The Cathedral & John Connon School embarked upon yet another exciting and creative journey when it began the IBDP Programme in January, 2015. We believe that this programme will provide our students with an alternative educational avenue that is holistic in the truest and broadest sense of the word, which synchronises with the tenets that are embedded in the School’s world view. Throughout their journey they will be challenged both physically and intellectually to explore new possibilities and seek new experiences which will fashion them into independent young people who are empowered to face the changing world with exhilaration and courage.
Mrs. M. Isaacs
The Cathedral and John Connon School aims to provide an education to young minds that will allow them to: learn how to learn, understand how to adapt to the changing world around them, become global citizens with a local vision, develop a sense of international mindedness and cherish the individuality of man and the commonality of mankind.
The Cathedral and John Connon School understands that today, more than ever, an education is incomplete if it does not add to the value system of a child. The School therefore is an institution that will provide an enriching learning experience based on a rich value system that shall hold its students in good stead in the future. The School has a curriculum that aids this belief by extending the boundaries of learning, outside of us as well as within.
IB Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
